The 43 km. trail goes through especially picturesque areas with rocks, forests, hills and fields starting from the Harju Manor coast in Virolahti and ending at the lake Syvä Valk-Järvi, right at the board between municipalities of Miehikkälä and Ylämaa (Lappeenranta). Each of the Salpa defense line historical sights you will meet on your way has an information board for your convenience.
Salpa line hiking trail has plenty of areas where you can have a break, rest and stay overnight. All rest areas have at least a compost toilet, compost bins for bio waste, fireplace and a wood shed. Some of the rest areas have an overnight accommodation and saunas which you can rent. We recommend you to plan your overnight stays beforehand and get a map from where all rest areas can be found. In order hikers stay on the right way, the trail is marked by 2 to 5 signposts and Salpa Trail insignias per each kilometer. It is recommended, however, to have a map at a hand to ensure your proper walking direction.
