Portimo is a 8.3 km long hiking trail in Hamina that perfectly suits for a day trip. On your way you will pass upland forests, mixed forests, ponds and lakes and extremely green areas. In early autumn, Portimo trail is a right place for mushroom picking. The trail starts at the foot of the mountain Siliävuori and continues to its steep top. You can enjoy the landscapes view from the observation tower located in there. From the mountain Siliävuori go down and continue your journey through spruce forests and rock surroundings. As you walk, you will enter drier area with pinewoods and will see Valkalampi pond on your left hand. Next to Valkalampi you will find a rest area with a campfire place, toilet and a swimming place. It is a convenient half-way stopover point where you can rest before finishing your journey.
