Epidemic restrictions in the Kotka–Hamina region are being eased or lifted.

Municipal services

Kotka’s customer service point Ruori opened to visitors on 14 May. We kindly request that customers purchase e.g. Waltti cards primarily online at nettilataukset.waltti.fi.
If there is a queue at the customer service point, customers should act safely by e.g. maintaining social distancing and practicing good hand hygiene. www.kotka.fi

The Rinkeli customer service point at Hamina Town Hall opened on 1 June 2020. www.hamina.fi

Municipal sports and exercise services

In early June, the city of Kotka opened e.g. the Katariina outdoor swimming pool to limited customer use, which in practice means that the outdoor swimming pool is open for 8 hours per day, 7 days a week until 17 August.

Hamina’s outdoor exercise sites opened on 14 May. Park exercises began on 1 June.

Pyhtää municipality’s sports services programme for summer 2020 starting from 3 June.

Attractions

The Maretarium aquarium in Sapokka, Kotka, opened on 1 June and is open thereafter every day from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm except on Midsummer’s Eve, 19 June, when it will be open from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. www.maretarium.fi

Maritime Centre Vellamo and the museum icebreaker Tarmo at Kantasatama harbour in Kotka opened to the public on Tuesday 2 June at 10:00 am. The Fateful Svensksund exhibition opened one week afterwards, on Tuesday 9 June. www.merikeskusvellamo.fi

The Haukkavuori lookout tower in Kotka will open on 30 June and its opening hours will be Tues–Sat from 12 noon to 6:00 pm.

The Langinkoski Imperial Fishing Lodge museum opened to the public on 1 June 2020, but the safety measures required by the coronavirus outbreak may affect services at the National Museum of Finland’s museums. The museum is open daily from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm from June through August. www.kansallismuseo.fi/en/langinkoski

Hamina’s museums will open in a staggered manner. The summer exhibition at the Merchant’s House Museum opened on 2 June and the Vehkalahti Museum opened on 6 June.

Attempts will be made to open Hamina Town Museum’s summer exhibition and the new and improved permanent exhibition on 7 July.

Due to the coronavirus situation, Virolahti Bunker Museum was closed in May 2020, but opened on Thursday 4 June and is open daily from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm from June through August. www.bunkkerimuseo.fi

The Salpa Line Museum in Miehikkälä opened on 1 June 2020 and is open daily from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm from June through August. The museum café is open to customers, although with coronavirus restrictions in place, and serves lunch daily. www.salpalinjamuseo.fi

The summer season at the Santalahti Resort started on 21 May in Mussalo, Kotka. www.santalahti.fi

SpaHotel Hamina

The hotel is open, but is not serving breakfast. The spa facilities opened on 3 June and its opening hours are Tues–Sat from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm. The spa is closed on Sundays and Mondays. www.spahotelhamina.fi

Erämys – Keisarin Kosket adventure services

From 1 June, more people can gather in the same public place. We spend most of our time outdoors! This is a great alternative for early summer events. www.eramys.fi

M/S Klippan to Varissaari

The ship began to run on 1 June providing a connection to Varissaari Island and the Vaakku summer restaurant. Daily departures are on the hour from 10:00 am to 9:00 pm from Sapokka and return arrivals are hourly from 10:40 am to 11:00 pm. www.varissaari.com

Zsar Outlet Village in Virolahti

The shopping centre opened on Saturday 30 May. All stores are open Mon–Fri: from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm, Sat–Sun: from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm. www.zsar.fi

Many restaurants in the region opened their doors to the public at the beginning of June, following official recommendations and safety regulations.

Restaurant Vausti in Kotka Concert Hall at Kotkankatu 7 re-opened on Friday 5 June. From week 24 and until further notice, the opening hours are: Wed–Fri from 12 noon to 9:00 pm, Sat from 3:00 pm to 10:00 pm and Sun–Tues closed. www.kotkanravintolat.fi

Restaurant Laakonki in Maritime Centre Vellamo at Tornatorintie 99 re-opened on Tuesday 2 June and until further notice the opening hours are: Tues, Thurs–Sun from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm, Wed from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm, Mon closed. www.kotkanravintolat.fi

Restaurant Keisarinsatama

Restaurant Keisarinsatama opened its renovated restaurant on 1 June. Open Mon–Fri from 11:00 am to 10:00 pm and Sat from 12 noon to 10:00 pm. www.keisarinsatama.com
