You don't have to go far to find a winter wonderland! Dress according to the weather and head out!

Kotka-Hamina region offers plenty of opportunities to spend an active winter day!


Uuperinrinteet in Hamina's Reitkalli offer slopes for the beginners as well as for the advanced skiers. Here you can also find a ski school, slopeside cafe and a gear rental.


A trip to a lent-to with a bonfire, hot coco and roasting marshmellows! Head down to Lehmäsaari in Kotka or Portimon polut -hiking trail in Hamina. 

#ice hole swimming

Aah, ice hole swimming! Swimming in cold water adds to your sence of concentration and you sleep better. You might also engage yourself into a conversation on the sauna benches. Places to dip yourself into the cold water: Marina Cafe Laituri and Rampsi's saunas in Hamina. 


According to Antti, 31 years of kitesurfer enthusiasts: "The best places for kiteboarding in Kotka are the shores of Äijänniemi beach, Katariina Seaside park and banks of Hirssaari."


The beach of Äijänniemi, commonly known as Äijäkkä, draws people in also in winter. Spectacular ocean views with an opportunity to get red cheeckbones! When the ice is thik enough, why not go ice skating! 


On a frosty winter you might ski or walk on the ice all the way to Varissaari. The best place to leave is Mansikkalahti beach in Kotka. All you need is you friends or family and hot coco!  


Valkmusa National Park offers a sight that you may have not seen before, a frozer swamp! Ski or walk along the duckboards for example to Moronvuori day cottage.
